The Pipelayer plays a crucial role in our company by installing various types of pipes, including storm, sanitation, telephone, electrical, and other utility pipes. They are responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient installation of pipes according to project specifications and industry standards. The Pipelayer will work collaboratively with the Superintendent and/or Site Lead to contribute to the successful completion of projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Prior experience as a Pipelayer or in a similar role in civil construction.
- Ability to locate underground utilities, complete BC OneCall, and safely expose existing utilities by supporting an equipment operator as a spotter
- Strong knowledge and understanding of pipe installation techniques, including storm, sanitation, telephone, electrical, and utility pipes.
- Ability to read and interpret project specifications, blueprints, and construction drawings.
- Familiarity with different pipe materials, sizes, and fittings.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to pipe installation.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy pipe materials and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to different job sites.
JOB DUTIES
As the Pipelayer, your responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting project specifications, blueprints, and construction drawings to determine the pipe layout and installation requirements.
- Preparing the work area, including excavation, trenching, and removal of existing materials as necessary.
- Installing pipes accurately, ensuring proper alignment, slope, and grade according to project specifications.
- Assembling and connecting pipes using appropriate fittings, couplings, and joints.
- Assisting in the placement and alignment of pipe supports, hangers, and brackets.
- Operating equipment such as pipe lasers, levels, and measuring tools to ensure precise pipe installation.
- Performing tests and inspections on installed pipes to check for leaks, obstructions, or other issues.
- Repairing or replacing damaged or faulty pipes, fittings, or fixtures as needed.
- Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and the team.
- Working collaboratively with the construction team, including equipment operators, laborers, and supervisors, to ensure efficient project execution.
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition and reporting any maintenance or repair needs.
- Completing necessary documentation, such as daily work logs and reports, as required.
